Kane Group Limited, a specialist insurance and risk management provider.

The Task.

Kane wanted to install a new operating system for their 30-strong team based in offices in London, Dubai and Bahrain. Kane's CEO had had personal experience of Macs and wanted to transition their offices from PCs to Macs.

The Challenges.

With Kane operating on an all PC system, pebble.it had to install and configure a robust Mac-based platform for office-based and travelling staff, migrate all data from the old PC system and familiarise all staff with new Macs. pebble.it also had to set up a workable system of ongoing remote and onsite support for the London and Middle East offices.

"Having researched both Macs and PCs for our new system, we decided to go with Macs. Our CEO is a big fan of Macs and wanted to bring them into the business environment," says office manager Martin Fitter.

  • Installation & Set-up: "The set-up in our London office was very quick. It took 2-3 days for the new desktops and laptops to arrive and then 2-3 days for pebble to configure everything. They then spent a week on site getting everything running smoothly. They sat down and chatted to every member of staff, answering all their questions."
  • Compatibility: "We've had no compatibility problems. Documents can be saved on Macs so they can be opened on PCs, which means staff can easily take work home – although some have now switched to Macs at home too."
  • Remote & On-site Support: "pebble.it installed a Helpdesk on which all our queries are logged. They'll reply in a couple of hours and let us know who'll be dealing with the problem. There's so much they can do remotely. They let you know when they’ll be taking over your desktop! If it's urgent Pebble responds immediately and can be on-site the same or next day. If it's a small query, members of staff tend to email or Skype pebble direct."
  • International Offices: "Our staff in the Middle East take their weekends on Friday and Saturday. pebble.it has been very flexible in accommodating this when it comes to providing remote IT support to the Dubai and Bahrain offices. pebble also sourced third-party IT support for us which has worked out very well."
  • Technology Guidance & Expertise: "We wanted to install video-conferencing – pebble organised it all, finding a company who could install the equipment. pebble also linked us up with video-conferencing using Skype, something they introduced us to. Skype's a great help for communicating with our Dubai and Bahrain offices. iPhones and Apple Mac laptops have also been introduced to most staff, with great success."
  • Other Services: "pebble is also helping us develop our web-based pipeline system that allows us to track all our deals around the world.”
